![]() | Deep Horizon Oil Spill Information The Deep Horizon Oil Spill is an accident of epic proportions with long term effects on the ecology and way of life of gulf coast communities. Although the Barrier Islands of Captiva and Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach has not been impacted, the purpose of this page is to provide pertinent information regarding response and recovery. Note that the oil spill is considered hazardous material and responders must be properly trained and equipped to respond. Oil exposure to skin and breathing of contaminated air can produce danger to responders. If you see oil, notify proper authorities. DO NOT ATTEMPT to clean it up yourself.
